How good is it now, with the expansion?

You see, I bought the special Gigantic, Titan sized special Edition of the Original game.
But back then, my computer was shiz.
It couldn't even run CS:S on the lowest settings.
So, I have the box somewhere with the game in it.
And I was wondering if I should get the expansion and start playing?
Or is it not worth it?

It's LotRO's 2-year anniversary, and Turbine is currently offering, till 30th June, the MoM expansion (download only, not boxed) for $10 which I think (not sure though) comes with 30 days free, so if you're going to re-subscribe you may as well buy the expansion directly from Turbine which, if it indeed comes with 30 days free, makes it basically the same price as re-subscribing only your old SoA version. Plus with the expansion you'd get a chance to try out the 2 new classes. They're also offering special monthly pricing, $30 for 3 month blocks ($10/mo basically) so it's a good time to find out if you want it.

However, if you want to find out if it's worth it first before paying the $10 for MoM, you can always start a new trial account and play it for a bit and see if you want to buy it and re-subscribe your old account.

If you're looking for a supreme PVE experience, lotro is fantastic. Better than WoW I would add, with the only exception being at one or two points in the leveling curve you need a group to get past clumps of group quests.

If you overlook that small thing, this game is DEFINITELY worth your time.

Today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday.

Thats really a personal call, as MMO's appear to be a "love em or hate em" situation. I'd recommend going for the trial, as that way you get 14 days free on top of the 30 you'll get anyway. Have you even made an account/used your registration code? Because if not it's worth doing just to at least get your 30 days free and get some value out of your purchase.
Although i suppose you could Ebay it.

Just install your original and play the 30 days you have anyway. The only things you won't be able to do is create a Runekeeper or Warden or go into Moria (and you'll be hard pressed to reach Moria in your 30 days ;))

If you're looking for well written quests that are worth reading, great graphics (if you don't have too much animation on the screen) and a coherent world that reminds you of the books every second you spend there you will find one of the best MMOs out there. If you're looking for JARG (just another r0xx0r game) you'd better sell the box ;)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but what do you base this on? You are just saying horrible, but what is so darn horrible to you? Personally I think this game is one of the best to come out for ages. But that is my opinion and I am just curious to why you think this is horrible.

I guess he's a PvPer, the game isn't very advanced in PvP, but then again they never pretended otherwise, this is NOT a PvP game, it's just an afterthought

And I guess he's playing WoW. Your and my guess are as unsubstantial as his claim. Maybe he wants to explain it to us, but I doubt it.

Exactly the reason why I asked. ;) I want to know why he feels that way. It may even be a very good reason. Not everyone can like the same things, fortunately too..
