The lands of Middle Earth are often cruel and unfair. Prejudice rules strong in the hearts of many. One's species, deity, or occupation often unfairly defines and misrepresents the quality of one's character. Even those that profess the ideals of equality and justice are not above making base assumptions and prejudicial decisions. Those that exist between the poles of alignment and deeds all too often find themselves lumped to one side or the other. The ideas of Good and Evil do not exclude the presence of Neutrality. The Council of Valenar recognizes this duality and strives to provide balance by any means necessary.

The Council of Valenar Guild is founded upon the following four missions: (1) to mediate and reconcile grievances of members and guild allies, (2) to foster and assist fledgling potential guild members, (3) to represent the interests of the guild and its members to the denizens and organizations of Middle Earth, and (4) to represent the interests of the guild and its members to Turbine.

OOC: While much of the nature and the missions of The Council of Valenar is roleplaying in nature or emphasizes roleplaying in some manner, the guild does not consider itself a roleplaying guild. While we certainly encourage roleplaying and are greatly appreciative when people 'play in character', we do not require nor enforce this sort of gameplay. We find that in most cases, the execution of our missions and the participation in our events elicits good character interaction and gameplay naturally. We do not seek to artificially produce role assumption.
